Sunrise Kiwanis Members Pack Bags for Thanksgiving Food Baskets. - 11/18/2017

30 bags of food were packed for 20 families for Thanksgiving. 10 Sunrise Kiwanis members did the work in record time. Special thanks to other members who contributed food items and Christy Smith who coordinated the project with Neil Armstrong and Peace River elementary schools. Turkeys and pies along with the food bags will be delivered in time for Thanksgiving. Give thanks for our blessings!

Jack Ham - The Academy Principal - Special Speaker - 11/18/2017

The November 16th Special Speaker was Jack Ham, Principal, The Academy. Mr. Ham's enthusiam was evident as he shared the success programs and stories of "at risk" high school students at "The Academy." Steve Walls, Southwest Area Office Director, FDOT, Special Speaker - 08/17/2017

Steve Walls, Southwest Area Office Director, FDOT shared information concerning the Interstate Highway system and answered various questions from Sunrise Kiwanis members about road projects, financing and information concerning the completion of I-75 in Charlotte County.

Miranda Fields, Fred Lang Foundation President, Special Speaker - 08/11/2017

Miranda Fields, Fred Lang Foundation President, shared interesting insights on the programs of the Fred Lang Foundation, supporting the Charlotte Behavioral Health Center. Charlotte County is one of the leading counties in Florida with a high per capita suicide rate. The Fred Lang Foundation and the Charlotte County Behavioral Health Center are working together to reduce the suicide rate. For more information:

Charlotte Prep Builder's Club Officers Introduced to Sunrise Kiwanis - 08/11/2017

Danny O'Leary, 2016 Vice-President and Brian O'Leary, 2016 Treasurer,  were  introduced to the Port Charlotte Sunrise Kiwanis by Charlotte Prep Builder's Club Advisor Jamie Biansco. Ms. Biansco gave a presentation on the Builder's Club projects held during the 2015-2016 Charlotte Prep school year.

Jake Henderson, Senior Program Coordinator, Solid Waste Division was the special speaker at the Thursday morning meeting of the Port Charlotte Sunrise Kiwanis. Mr. Henderson gave an interesting presentation on the Recycling Program of Charlotte County. Did you know that Charlotte County is one of Florida's leading counties in residential recycling?

Gary Harrell, Charlotte County Metropolitan Planning Organization was the special speaker for the weekly Port Charlotte Sunrise Kiwanis meeting. Mr. Harrell spoke on upcoming projects slated until 2022.

Sunrise Kiwanis Announces Golf Scramble - 07/20/2017

The Port Charlotte Sunrise Kiwanis announced the 2017 Golf Scramble to be held Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at the Kingsway Country Club, Lake Suzy, FL.  Teams, Sponsorships and "Goody Bags" are available.
